after many a summer
piano lessons peeling
into a day like today
and it’s dusting of snow
melting through spring flowers
i see a pianist waving at me
and in my waving back
i feel our palms drawing together
touching and becoming one

Eyes Completely Open/ David Bowie ( transcription no 3) for solo oboe, was originally written for oboist Catherine Pluygers. This recording is by Oboist Jennifer Porcas. The words ‘eyes completely open’ come from the song Absolute Beginners by David Bowie, which song haunted me during the construction of this piece. Listen in and you will hear it.

How the Song Grows for oboe d’amore is the longest piece ever composed for solo oboe’d’amore. It was written for oboist Jennifer Porcas and it has been performed 4 times This atmospheric performance took place at Bangor Cathedral on the 20/7/2004.
How the Song Grows is dedicated to my father Magnus Rae Scott.
