I wanted to share a little extended piano cut (inside the piano ) and a little poem of the same name that seemed to resonate with it. I started writing poetry in 1969 when I was in Courmayeur near Mont Blanc in the Italian Alp, teaching English one summer. I was lonely then, but lucky to have a great piano tutor in Carlo Vidusso at that time.
inside
soft radio
floorboard creaking
soon light will emerge
it’s sway
moving word time
words are sounds through which we travel
remembering the way
i used to write every night
in front of the long window
as the days grew longer
swimming in the word pond
reliving memories
and perspectives
listening to what emerged
deeper down
in the inner word worlds
in the layers of word silt
words sounding
and forming meaning
